Delta Air Lines is back in the top spot for July North American on-time performance for the first time since March, according to the latest report from aviation analytics company Cirium.

The carrier had dominated the rankings in 2024, coming in first every month but July.

Delta’s July 2025 on-time performance was 77 percent, up 1.4 percentage points month over month. Spirit Airlines held steady in second place at 76.7 percent, an increase of 0.9 percentage points. Alaska Airlines rounded out the top three at 75.2 percent, an increase of 1.1 percentage points from June.

The overall July North American on-time performance, however, dipped 1.5 percentage points to 71.8 percent. The carriers with the largest declines included JetBlue (down 5.5 percentage points) and Air Canada (down 5.4 percentage points) from June. Frontier (64.9 percent) returned to the list in last place after not qualifying last month.

None of the North American carriers made Cirium’s global list of top on-time carriers, which in July was led by Aeromexico at 89.8 percent.

Just one carrier had a July completion factor above 99 percent—Spirit at 99.5 percent. Alaska followed by 98.6 percent, with WestJet in third at 98.4 percent.

In July, North American carrier cancellations soared to 19,923, compared with 13,986 in June.

A flight is considered on time if the aircraft arrives at the gate within 15 minutes of its scheduled arrival time.
