On the fringe of an industrial park within the metropolis of Ningbo lies Du Xifan’s home of horrors: A dimly lit warehouse crammed with zombies, orcs, mutilated dolls — and lots of of different ghoulish objects.
Du — also called “Mr. Masks” — is making a killing in a little-known, however fast-growing market in China: horror. His firm affords an enormous vary of grisly props and costumes, that are seeing booming demand because of younger customers’ rising love for spooky escape rooms and homicide thriller video games.
