Tongan geologists watched a large plume of ash rise within the sky throughout a steady eruption of the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai volcano on Jan. 14.
The Tonga Geological Providers launched photos of what they stated was a 5 km large column of ash, fuel, and steam rising 18-20 km above sea degree.
On Saturday, Jan. 15, an extra volcanic eruption triggered tsunami alerts for a number of Pacific nations, Australia, New Zealand and on the Pacific coastlines of Japan and the U.S.
