Ottawa’s interim police chief Steve Bell stated Tuesday that any officer who helps the continued protest in Ottawa towards COVID-19 vaccine mandates and restrictions “has no place” within the police service and “will probably be handled accordingly.”
Bell added that at this level no protesters have been charged with illegal meeting, although some have been charged with different Legal Code violations.
The interim chief additionally urged residents to not take part in counter-protests, stating he’s frightened about their “security.”
In the meantime, Deputy Chief Trish Ferguson informed members of the police companies board that whereas the division welcomes the federal authorities’s enactment of the Emergencies Act, they’re ready for “official particulars” earlier than implementing it.
