For decades, the West naively gave China their technology thru cooperative programs and joint ventures. Then China hacked whatever else they needed. So its no surprise they are now eating our lunch. Frustrating is a mild word to describe what happened. Politicians and big business needs to hang for allowing this to happen. Wishful thinking….

It s so sad to see the downfall of internal combustion engines, it's a show of technology achievement by human, a work of art, compare to some laptops with wheels.

Electric cars are not environment friendly, lithium harvesting, processing and battery life is highly polluting when done with fossil energy. And planned obsolescence of said cars is even more pollution compared to say, light (sub 550kg) low fuel cons. (Under 4l/100 km) thermic cars

German car are not popular even in Europe anymore, because of the diesel fraud and the 5 year FUD media hezt against Tesla. Tesla is what we all want, and no matter if its produced in China, as long as its cheap.

Well it is true! Germany is behind Korea, China, Japan and the US in electric cars. Most people are interested in the BMW/Mercedes market. But for mid-priced sedans with a good range, your options are currently KIA, Hyundai, Nissan Chevrolet, Tesla Model 3, Nio, XPeng, etc.

F Chinese Government. Those disgraceful ingrates lied to America that fed and helped it towards economical revival post 1980s stagnancy. Now it's using the profit and technology for expansion and political influence around the world. Lesson here is Sometimes, You shouldn't Trust the poor because they will use you for their own intentions instead of showing appreciation and understanding of your good will.

never heard of chinese consumer is tech driven. I will categorize them as convenience driven in which car should make the life easier and more enjoyable. or you should categorize them as vanity driven in which they want their car installed whatever high end car has or look expensive😉

It's too early to discount the Germans. If it's merely software then I suppose they can go in for a collaboration. The race for the EV supremacy is going to be long and protracted and it will be affected by emerging technologies especially in batteries and autonomous driving. Tesla prospered by the novelty of the technology and tax breaks both of which obviously cannot last long. The Chinese Govt will not allow foreign manufacturers to dominate the domestic EV market. By introducing various laws and regulations they will make sure that domestic manufacturers are given preferential treatment – Tesla's problems in their biggest market have just started.

God. Imagine how much house values will go up due to electric cars. Seems like a weird connection right? Well, many houses are near major roads…. The noise is such a big factor for anyone living or buying/renting a house there. Often by the road is less expensive because of it…

I mean… It doesn't really matter what it is. China, be it now a twisted mix of capitalism and communism is a post communist nation.
Of course any foreign brand would have quite the struggle yo get in, be it through governments initiative or the locals view on normal, good and foreign.

Western products are no longer affordable to developing states. They are also no longer affordable to developed states themselves. This is how Chinese goods took up shelf space in western malls. If the west does not devalue its currency, it will fall and fall hard.
