When the Ever Given turned caught within the Suez canal in March 2021, individuals woke as much as the sheer measurement of those megaships. However these vessels, which now dominate container delivery, have been quietly ballooning in measurement for greater than 50 years, and even doubling in capability each few years for the reason that flip of the millennium. The larger they’ve grown, the extra issues they’ve induced for customers and producers, issues that reach a lot additional than getting caught

So that's were my PS 5 went…..huh………
Is The Guardian now complaining about a lack of diversity in the shipping business?
"Bigger isn't always better"
It clearly says "Ever Green" not "Given"
Why are they actin like the name isn’t call evergreen
We want BIGGER!!!
"The Earth is being Plundered for Profit. One thing that is very little understood is the extent that our values are shaped by our monetary Society" ~ Roxanne Meadows; Co-Founder of The Venus Project; Resource Based Economy.
A very simple, to keep the 50 year old 747 design , and the newer Airbus 380 design already discontinued . Keep these beautiful aircraft in the air by using these as cargo aircraft. Is it more expensive, yes, is it faster , much.
The container ship monopoly will kill the economy of several smaller countries., And cause massive inflation in the US. Us air power. DC-10, DC-11 MN d-12, 747-4-8, all Airbus 380 , simple, and lest shrinkage, better delivery conditions, a much better way to move good
Thank you guardian for circling the giant pile of shipping containers, I wouldn’t have noticed them if you hadn’t
Yes, the ship says Evergreen, not Ever Given. The ship is called Ever Given, the company that owns it is called Evergreen. Hope that clears it up.
Every family has one person who break the odds and achieve remarkable success. Thank your Self because its you reading this
Here in Canada, ships are required to burn more expensive low sulfur fuels to protect the environment. As you watch them sail into port, you see them switch fuel tanks to be burning this fuel for the short run into port. Once they reach open sea gain, they switch back. A look at our planet from the moon shows how thin that 60 km atmosphere is, so it is ludicrous to not have a global standard that has to be met everywhere…..
It can have three 🏈 football fields in it back to back
A big part of mega ships having more problems now has to do with growth of Chinese sector in the industry. Chinese ships are half as much as the ships made in other nations, but of course nothing is cheap without reason. Their engineering standards just are not the same.

This is awesome. More investments for more efficiency is always great. Although monopolies isn't.
AFGHANISTAN!
The key players are consumers. Why are their habits never questioned??
M a s k o f f w e b. are so the best
👍
Very poorly researched and shallow documentary I'm afraid. It amazes me how little people know about the shipping industry considering the effects it has on our daily lives. This documentary doesn't help much.
However, if Egypt and Panama decided to put a limit on the size of ships allowed in the canals that could limit the size of these mega ships.
