A viral pop tune that pokes enjoyable at Beijing and its supporters has been banned in mainland China.
Fragile mocks so-called “little pinks” – a time period which refers to younger nationalists who rush to the defence of the Chinese language authorities on the web.
The lyrics comprise phrases like “re-education camp”, “cotton”, “inseparable relationship”, taking a dig at delicate points starting from Xinjiang to Taiwan sovereignty.
The video has gone viral in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore, regardless of the ban in mainland China.
The BBC talks to the tune’s creator, Namewee.
Video by Meiqing Guan of BBC Chinese language, Grace Tsoi and Yung-Chih Fann.
