Prime Minister Justin Trudeau introduced Friday that Canada shall be putting sanctions on Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian International Minister Sergei Lavrov over invasion of Ukraine.
Trudeau was joined by Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, International Affairs Minister Melanie Joly, Defence Minister Anita Anand, Immigration Minister Sean Fraser, and Worldwide Improvement Minister Harjit Sajjan for the announcement.
Trudeau additionally mentioned that Canada shall be putting sanctions on Belarus, targetting 57 people, for aiding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Canada may also assist Russia’s elimination from the SWIFT banking system, Trudeau mentioned, to exclude Russia from making transactions around the globe.
