It's quite decent of Gov Abbott to postpone his appearance at the NRA meeting this weekend…. Now i know why he had all those LE officers flanking him the other day in Uvalde & singing their praises. It was an hour before they entered the school though they did keep the parents out who were naturally trying to save their kids even though they were unarmed. NOBODY needs an automatic rifle. I am calling on our news organizations to spend a lot more of their time interviewing our Senators and Congressmen, especially Republicans, on why exactly they cannot do what pretty much everyone in this country want them to do. I believe a steady, constant stream of this reporting WILL shame them into action. The human interest stories on the shooting are good but we're getting too much of that, and it doesn't solve anything.

Meanwhile our disgrace of a PM is using this tragedy to take guns away from legal gun owners while completely ignoring the fact that 99.9% of gun crimes are committed with illegal firearms smuggled up here from the US. Sport shooters have to go through rigorous RCMP background checks every 5 years, take a multi-day course, register handguns with the CFO, can only take them to the range and back to their gun lockers at home, and yes they must be LOCKED up at all other times. Nothing Trudumb is doing will do ANYTHING to stop illegal guns from getting into the hands of criminals. He's just trying to score political points off a terrible AMERICAN problem. If Trudumb actually wanted to stop gun crime, he'd pass laws to severely punish using illegal guns with a mandatory 5 year sentence for possession and a mandatory 10 years added to any crime committed with an illegal gun. He won't do that though, because he'd rather trample all over law abiding citizens and coddle criminals.
