BOOK – CHINA’s NEW NORMAL
See for example China Russia relation. Historically both fight each other, but I guess in an honest way. That's what USA never did, they are alway dishonest.
Turned out China wasted its time. Biden said one thing and went on to do the opposite.
As a sailor I would ask myself if China oppose or restrict freedom of navigation in the china see or is only a geopolitical or strategic factor.
Dear Pascal.
It's all about another trillions, with Taiwan card.
Other than this, just cosmetics.
Trade deal phase one states China will buy from the US if the prices are competitive with other nations. Can't just buy blindly like that. The Chinese made sure to protect themselves in that regard.
The zero-sum view where one side wins and one side loses works in sports like football, but usually don’t work well in relationships between couples. BRI at least tries to have a win-win situation
A great view man. All power to you. From NZ
I find that the lens is from the west. The west will behave similarly 200 yrs back. No different and US will goes back to its usual way, competition without and ethical or moral.
Sorry to disagree with view point this time.
so respectful argue Pascal, but about topic…US its stukle in Anchorage IV, thanks for share it.
Of course it’s a win win situation, China didn’t take advantage from United States, just the “win” of the United States did not benefit to the people, it went to the big corporate company, for example Apple. For the last 20-30 years, United States corporation made a fortune from China, did not want to share with the society.
It’s United States internal system, shouldn’t blame China.
Taiwan is like a girlfriend that got away from a abusive relationship. Now the girl has gotten away, moved on in life and now China wants here back. Let her go China.
China is like the guy at the gym that got a bit out of shape. So, some people at the gym started helping him get back into shape. Now that he got back into shape, he's talking smack at everyone at the gym.
Living in China (to me, I lived there for 5 years) a guy that invited you over for a party. Once you're there, he's like "Do you have to drink all my beer?" "Don't stand there!!!" "Do you have talk so much?" "Let me tell you what your problem is…" "I suppose you can use my toilet." "Well, if you like my rules, there's the door."
U are ignoring the giant elephant in the room – all the nonsensical human rights accusations are fake news, Tibet, Xinjiang, HK, bla bla bla are just “ saddam has WMDs” version 1001. They are clearly pretexts for demonizing and trying to subjugate China, lets not mince words. Finally, i doubt the top Chinese leadership including Xi believe Biden’s “we stick with one China policy”. Both the Chinese and Russians by now view the US as “agreement incapable”. Whatever agreement with the Americans cannot be trusted. Face it, Biden is a weak president, he can’t control the neocon factions. Even if he could, before long Trump will Take over, and all “ agreements “ down the drain….. I doubt the Chinese don’t see it this way.
USA: Do it my way. China: Let's be respective of differences. USA: No way!
I think you are taking this too seriously. As Lavrov stated, the US is not agreement-capable. The US government is an animal house where nobody is in charge and everybody has a personal agenda working for his personal ambition. The Chinese and Russians both know words from POTUS are worthless.
Pascal, would do a piece on China's democracy? Thanks
Continue and improve communication and cooperation between the 2 leaders in the next future summit. Listen carefully to what each one has to say. Work a solid plan to agree in the same terms to come up with a peaceful solution with each other's demands leading to understanding where each other is coming from. Remember some difference in ideologies may hinder development of good relation between the 2 leaders. Don't aggrevate the situation. Don't make a threat. Be empathetic with each other.
the meeting only proves one thing: The US can't be trusted
usa is losing, so they talk about rules, most of which they have laid down. xjp just ignored that, he is looking at not ruining the future, where prc will be paramount, and usa will subside, much like russia.
Judging by the recent US actions (following the meeting), their words are clearly meaningless. Biden either presides over a very divided regime, or he is just incapable of negotiating in good faith. As the Russian indicate, the US is "agreement incapable". The Iranians would no doubt agree. Fact is, the US ultimately does as it pleases. It's US exceptionalism at work. Although I'm encouraged by your optimism, I won't bet on it.
You need to listen to Prof Michael Hudson. You seem to have a view of the world that doesn’t match reality. Many of what America says to China is coded words for the neoimperialist order that America created post World War II where the imperialist counties agreed to compete for markets rather than form colonial holdings and engage in monopoly capitalism that was the main reason for the two World Wars. China has run smack into this world order and they’ are now trying to determine whether China is going to play ball or not
It sounds like both side are simply talking about what they want and not really listening to the other. Any agreements simply agreed upon because that’s what they could stomach, still haven’t seeing any genuine signs of moving forward.
👍🏻
with respect to covid,it is the US not willing to cooperate with china, bias of this guy is obvious?
disagree, nothing will change. war is coming! this is the last try for Xi jingping but it is fail.
Unless a basic fundamental change of US foreign policies,
it's very difficult for China to go with hostile immoral US.
China should be very careful, never believe in whatever US say bla, bla, bla, ,,,,,
Just listening to the Prologue makes me feel that Xi Jinping is the ADULT while Biden is a desperate brat grappling at lies about Xinjiang, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Tibet to claim his imagined American Exceptional right to order every country around. Xi wants both powers to be respectful and focus on developing responsibly domestically and to collaborate in helping the global south as well, to enhance world peace. Biden's world view is very limited – only US interests matter and also what China must not do regarding human rights in Xinjiang, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Tibet which are really none of US business as China is a sovereign country who has the right to govern her territories as she sees fit.
I was surprised by the open optimism from Chinese diplomate during interview right after the meeting. In a way, the Chinese even seemed naive and may not have realized the US has bipartisan consent that China is the ENEMY. This is not going to change as long as US cannot fix its own systematic problems and continue it's downward trajectory.
Definition of democracy to the Chinese: …every family is able to own a house and put food on the table. Homelessness, begging and looting is not a democracy.
How long did Biden waited to boycott winter’s Olympic after the talk? Words didn’t align with the nefarious actions. Trust has to be gained. As for trade how could there be a healthy deal until the hostility of battle ships and gang bullies mentality of the west is removed. Pots don’t get to call out on someone else being the kettle when they have rampant human rights issue in their home turf. They do not want the 8 nations alliance atrocity to repeat.
I doubt whether China and the US can get along well with each other! The US has an imperialist mindset. They think they are “shining city on a hill“, the representative of God in humanity, and the nations that challenge it are infidels! The world can only be led by America because it represents god's will! Omniscient, all-powerful, all-good
Good to be optimistic, however , realistically it is is rocky relations for some time, US want to be the dominance party, but China want equal respects.
In any relationship to improve, respects from both sides must be achieved, but it seem challenging for now, especially US playing the Taiwan card very aggressively.
Your take on the meeting is too optimistic, nothing appeared to have changed. The US is continuing its underhanded attack and China responding clumsily. Even from the opening speech, Xi extended his hand in friendship and Biden just knock it away. US's animosity towards China is clear to see and its two faced politically statements just don't gel with its actions.
USA getting Taiwan to relocate TMSC facilities to Arizona and whatever else should be an alarm bell to the Taiwanese people of having IMO their strategic assets stolen by stealth and probably will be abandoned by the USA once it then suits them!!
I hope usa and china will work together to fight for climate change and hope they maintain good relation so nuclear war can be prevented… The reason why usa is becoming less co-operating with china is that china is now wealthiest country in the world and their leader made their country GREAT … Usa can't see themselves at 2nd position in terms of wealth and ECONOMY… That's why they are more interested to make Taiwan independent …. CHINA is great and rich now in terms of wealth because of their hardwork and discipline where usa folks are not much disciplined… Chinese characteristics really helped them to lift 800 million people from poverty and this Chinese government initiative really helped Chinese people to live a decent life and where usa don't shit abt poor people they literally say it's not government job to help you out from poverty… Their fresh infrastructure will help also them to become superpower by 2025 as per estimates … (1/2)
The US is stalling for time so they can prepare. Unlike for the Chinese for the US this situation seems to come as a surprise.
We gotta take chinas growth at the expense of america out of their behinds
The world knew who is the real American and the west especially still consider US allies. Or else is all still reason…for those who are still conscious. In other words history show who you really are.
there is constant hammering home the message of biden saying "rules based order", that is diplomatic for post-cold war u.s. based international order based on what u.s deems right/wrong. So you think china is gonna follow that? no……..
It's a pity the US can't be trusted on anything they 'agree' on.
These are two complete different systems with two intentions and two separate ways to reach their goals. For the US there is only one state and one way: HEGEMONY, which exclude any kind of consensus or any kind of acceptance of the “other”. For China the existence of the “other”, even in her own country (one country two systems), has always been something natural. So for China consensus is the method and the way, and coexistence of different systems is the goal.
Anyway, the presence of Yanet Yellen at Biden’s side shows the real object of this urgent talk by the US government: will China buy his bonds yes or no?
That’s why a few hours after the talk Biden said that he was mulling to boycott the Olympics Winter Games in Beijing. We can guess that the answer of Xi was NOP.
You're quite optimistic. I hope you're right.
Any country government that have more than two terms more than the US is an Authoritarian government led by a dictatorship leader,
Awesome video! I would like to ask, what is the balance two months after this event?
